Synopsis

Frank Henenlotter's BASKET CASE 2 picks up right where the original BASKET CASE leaves off. After surviving the fall from their hotel room window, Duane Bradley and his misshapen, basket-dwelling brother Belial are taken to the city hospital. By now, their attempt at leading a secret life is blown, and the pair have become media darlings across the country. Meanwhile, Duane's long-lost Aunt learns of their situation and, along with her pregnant daughter Susan, helps them escape from the confines of the hospital and the eye of the press. Duane and Belial's aunt, known as Granny Ruth, takes them under her wing at her mansion, which serves as a safe haven for hideously deformed freaks of all shapes and sizes. Unfortunately, the whereabouts of this dynamic duo don't remain secret for too long, and Duane and Belial team up with Susan, Granny Ruth, and her houseful of mutants to devise a plan to do away with the exploitative reporters once and for all. —Matt Huls ([email protected]).

    Utter madness

This film is utter madness. It takes the first film to the ultimate next level. It is just lots of freaks and some pretty grotty moments of hellish violence. It is twisted film making dying to shock you with the sicker side of our body pretending that it is enlightening us. I loved every second without a moment of introspective boredom. Utterly nuts and tacky, but that is why we love it.

Enjoyable campy fun; more comedic than its predecessor

BASKET CASE 2 picks up right where the plot of the first movie left off. This time around, Duane and his deformed brother find shelter with "Granny Ruth", a woman who has dedicated her life to take care of those "freaks" that otherwise find no place in society.Just as with its predecessor, the movie focuses on the theme of social rejection and "trying to fit in". The sequel is more comedic, more actively making fun of itself. There's some better make-up effects but also, just as was the case before, some really tacky ones as well. Overall, this movie has some light-hearted fun to offer while at the same time succeeding in asking some deep questions about the nature of our society. What I found most enjoyable was Annie Ross's performance as Granny Ruth, which was hilariously over-the-top. She's quite a character in the movie and certainly carries it at times. Comparatively speaking, Duane and his brother play less of an important role this time, as the story branches out to include more characters and more "freaks".Go and watch it if you liked the first installment of the series.

    Brother till the end

Basket Case 2 take off right after the event of the first one and this time it way more disturbing and wacky than ever. The acting definitely improve a lot with characters like Bradley and the new comer Granny Ruth the owner of a mansion for freak people. The gore is more bloody and more fun than the first one. There many memorable scene like the brother talk which give me the creeps but the real showstealer is the last 10 minute of total WTF just happened moments?I enjoy this movie very much but still the way their handle Bradley emotion when he went from a chill dude to a more f*ck up version of his brother is just so wrong
