Completely changed the story from the comic

Decent attempt if it were not for the core changes that were made in the story. The only hope is that this is actually part 1 of the Hush story and a second part will fix/finish the story.

One of the better Batman animated films I've seen

I'd have to say that this is one of the better Batman animated films I've seen - and I've seen most. The story seemed more "adult" (without trying too hard and being too much so), with a more serious tone, but it also had a good balance of darkness and humour. I haven't read the comic or graphic novel so I can't compare it to that, but on it's own I'd have to say that it was well done. The characters were fleshed out enough for me, and the ending wasn't the predictable one I thought it was going to be.Off the top of my head, the only one I can think of that tops it is Under the Red Hood.

    A travesty.

Most of the Batman adaptations we have been blessed with (*cough*) lately seem to share the same flaw: whoever wrote the plot didn't get themselves properly acquainted with the source material or... just don't give a damn. I honestly don't know which is worst, but still, this how they seem to roll nowadays. Once and for all: the most interesting tales of the Bat available, of which the finest often were written by Jeff Loeb, are essentially relying on psychology and manipulation, smoke and mirrors. "Hush" is one good example. And yes, spoilers ahead, so you've been warned. So, a few points:1- Aside from the occasional strike of genius, Eddie Nygma aka Riddler will NEVER be more than a C-lister. Combat will never be his real forte. And also he never was Hush to start with.2- Hush was that *other guy* all along (go read the comic maybe?) who wasn't even supposed to be around anymore. He was such a mastermind and an expert at confusing the issues that the sheer level of paranoïa he instilled in the Detective was what made it fail between the Bat and the Cat. That and nothing else. The storyline in this "movie" is dull, predictable, borrows the good bits only up to Catwoman's abduction and after that, becomes a terrible mess. There was no need to involve Lady Shiva and the Lazarus Pit. Can't the people at Warner help themselves from sprinkling cameos in the story when it's uncalled for? All the dramatic tension in the "real" story is gone. What remains is just a time filler and that's sad, the visuals are excellent, the voicing spot-on (except for the opera clown) and the combat choregraphies impeccable. It's like a beautiful shiny tuxedo on an ugly hunchback with a Tourette Syndrome.
