To be ambitious with your film in the small budget world of indie filmmaking is one thing, to actually succeed like Spare Parts has is something else entirely. Speaking to the talent of the cast and crew when this film has cool story, solid acting and some damn good fights. Great kills. Surprisingly good effects work. Jullian Richings being evil. What more could you want in a film?

Ambitious and fun
Super Fun Genre Mash-Up
Saw this recently at a virtual film fest and it was hands down one of the more entertaining offerings - an action/horror/thriller mash-up. Best way to describe it is the Frankenstein love-child of Green Room, Mad Max: Fury Road and Turbo Kid.
After a bar clearing brawl an all-girl punk band gets kidnapped and drugged. They wake-up to find their arms have been replaced with weaponry and they're forced to fight gladiator style in an auto wrecking yard. The action sequences are fast-paced and furious, with the right amount of gore to add to the fun factor. But what really keeps you engaged are the performances from the girls which add an extra layer of depth to what could have otherwise been a rather superficial and one-dimensional gory affair. And of course it doesn't hurt to have Julian Richings as the lead villain - he chews up the screen every second he's on it.
It's a rambunctiously fun B-movie, with a lush punk-rock aesthetic, a killer score and its tongue firmly planted in cheek.
Gorror that's cheap
This was an awful title. I almost made it half way through the movie but then finally said to myself "this is an hour of my life I want back".
I'm not really in to gorror movies although I typically don't mind them. This was just a terrible premise and fairly boring.
